GOLD COAST LIGHTNING SHOW - DECEMBER 29, 2001 SE QLD and NE NSW were treated to some severe thunderstorms yesterday to cool things down a bit. The region has been subjected to some extreme temperatures into the mid 30's. A cell grew very quickly just south of beaudesert, moving in an easterly direction but very slow. It's intensity exploded suddenly about an hour before it hit the Gold Coast. Steve
Baynham had a great view of it from his home near Burleigh and captured these images from video.
An earlier cumulonimbus cloud with some whispy stratus skimming off the top, i thought looked pretty cool.
